You’ve got the clubs, the bag, the clothes, and now the last piece of golf equipment you need is the shoes. This can be a daunting task considering the variety of shoes there are for sale. Keep these few ideas in mind the next time you are shopping for new golf shoes.

First, decide how much money you are willing to spend. You can find less expensive pairs at any sporting goods shop or big box department store. The problem with purchasing shoes at these shops is you won’t necessarily get the expert advice you can obtain at a pro shop. The pro shop’s merchandise will cost a little more money, but you’ll also gain the staff’s invaluable expertise.

When you arrive at your destination of choice, have one of the sale’s staff measure your feet. Golf shoes will fit you differently than your traditional shoes. If you utilize golf as a form of exercise, you will need a shoe that offers support and comfort. Leather shoes are a great choice if this is the case, and they will last quite a while.

The next point to consider when shopping for golf shoes is the spikes. The majority of golf courses do not allow metal spikes because of the damage they can inflict on the fragile greens and fairways. Also keep in mind that metal spikes aren’t replaceable. Once they become worn, the shoes must be replaced. For these reasons, it’s a smart idea to buy plastic spikes. They won’t damage the course, and the plastic spikes are interchangeable. It’s a good idea to learn what the rules and regulations regarding shoes are for your golf course of choice.

Now it is time to decide on a style. Traditionally, golf shoes are white. If you want to stand out from the crowd, add some subtle color. Don’t go overboard with too much flash, it can be distracting to the other players. When you find the ideal pair, try them on. Stand up and walk around the entire store. Ask the salesperson if these shoes are the ideal choice for you, or if you should find a different pair.

Now that you have found the perfect pair of golf shoes, go out and play 9 holes, or maybe even 18. If you have done your homework, your new shoes will fit you perfectly, and should keep you playing all summer long. Other people are reading here.
